Trigg Point Sunset Canvas Print — Perth, Western Australia

The headland at Trigg drops away in low limestone ledges, and in the last of the afternoon light the whole coast picks up a warm cast — the rock, the roofs behind it, the sand. This aerial photograph looks along that edge, the water dark over the reef and the beach curving out beyond it.

Perth faces west, which is its great gift: the sun sets directly into the Indian Ocean every night of the year. Along the northern beaches that final half hour turns the limestone gold and the water to ink — and Trigg Point, with its reef and its ledges, catches it better than almost anywhere on the metro coast.

Personally shot by Australian aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. The contrast between warm rock and cool water is where this image lives, and low sun is notoriously punishing on detail. The drone's 100MP Hasselblad camera keeps both ends of that range intact at every print size.
