Skies like this last about four minutes. I had the drone up and moving before the colour properly arrived, which is the only way you ever catch one — by the time it looks good from the ground you have already missed it.

Personally shot by aerial photographer Matthew Philip on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Its 100MP Hasselblad camera resolves remarkable detail — the structure in the cloud and the texture of the wrapping wave stay razor sharp, even printed at large statement sizes.

A sky like this does not hang around. You get about four minutes of real colour and then it goes grey, so the only way to catch one is to already be up and flying before it happens.

This was the strongest light of the whole evening. Deep pink cloud stacked right over the point, the ocean underneath it gone completely flat and silver, and a wave still wrapping around the rocks at the bottom of the frame to keep some movement in it.

Shot on a DJI Mavic 4 Pro with the 100MP Hasselblad camera. Pink and orange are the two colours that fall apart first in a print, so having the resolution and the colour depth to hold the structure inside the cloud matters more here than on any other frame in the set.
