When it comes to deciding the best beaches in Western Australia, a few factors must be assessed. How white is the sand? How turquoise is the sea? Are there any unique rock formations or natural art that make it stand out?

1. Little Beach – Albany
If you’re looking for the best beach in Western Australia then here it is. Little Beach aka Two People’s Bay is the perfect white sandy beach with magical turquoise water and a unique rock placed in the middle.
This perfect beach really brings the wow factor when you first set eyes on the electric blue water. You will see why it is my favourite beach in Australia.
2. Twilight Beach – Esperance
One of the best beaches in Esperance, located in South West Australia. People swim up to the rock in the middle of the sea and jump off. For the best views of the beach climb to the top of the hill looking over the beach.
As you walk along the pristine white sandy shore, the turquoise water glistens under the warm sun, inviting you to take a dip and cool off from the summer heat.
3. Greens Pool – Denmark
Tucked away in William Bay National Park, Greens Pool is a natural wonder renowned for its clear, jade-coloured waters and beautifully sculpted rocks.
The huge rocks protect from the Indian Ocean waves and the shallow waters are always calm at Greens Pool making it a great spot for families or for people just wanting to relax and not get wiped out.
The unique rock formations surrounding the pool create a stunning backdrop, making it a perfect spot for photographers.
4. Misery Beach – Albany
Misery Beach you beauty! Known for the big granite rock at the end of the white sandy beach that squeaks beneath your feet. The sea is electric blue and amazing to swim in.
Located around the corner from Salmon Holes beach which is worth the visit.
5. Lucky Bay – Esperance
One of the most iconic beaches in Western Australia. Lucky Bay with powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters create a breathtakingly beautiful and serene environment that is perfect for relaxation and beach activities.
Lucky Bay is also known for its friendly kangaroos that often lounge on the beach, making it one of the best Western Australia beaches.
Driving on the Beaches in Esperance
You can drive on most of the beaches in Esperance. Of those, you can take 2WD cars including Wharton and Lucky Bay.
6. Wharton Beach – Esperance
Located in the Cape Le Grand National Park, this beach offers an ideal setting for both beginner and experienced surfers. The crystal-clear blue waters and pristine sandy shore create a picturesque backdrop for an exhilarating surfing experience.

The nearby Frenchmans Peak mountain is well worth the hike for amazing views of some of the best Western Australian beaches. It is quite a steep climb at times, recommended to climb in the morning when it’s a bit cooler.
9. Bunker Bay – Dunsborough
Another one of the pristine Western Australia beaches, Bunker Bay is situated in the Margaret River region, and is renowned for its white sand and turquoise water, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
A short drive along Cape Naturaliste will bring you to Eagle Bay is well worth the visit too. It’s a great 3 hour road trip from Perth heading to Dunsborough and Margaret River with many great stops along the way in Rockingham, Bunbury and Busselton jetty.
10. Turquoise Bay – Exmouth
About a 13-hour drive from Perth, you will pass Lancelin sand dunes and Shark Bay bringing you to Exmouyh in the Coral Coast. The crystal-clear turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs make it a popular spot for underwater adventures.
As one of the Ningaloo Reef’s premier snorkelling spots, visitors can witness an array of marine life, including reef sharks and sea turtles. Its serene beauty and diverse ecosystem make Turquoise Bay a must-visit for anyone seeking a snorkelling experience—a great cheaper alternative to the Great Barrier Reef.

One of many beautiful beaches on Rottnest Island, The Basin is a beautiful beach which is great for snorkelling in the reef. It’s a popular beach for families.
Other beaches to visit at Rottnest include Little Salmon Bay and Little Parakeet Bay. Don’t forget to get the quokka selfie.
12. Salmon Holes – Albany
As the name suggests, this beach gets a whoooooole lot of salmon in the sea at certain times of the year, February/March being 2 of the months.
People flock to one side of the beach to fish for salmon and the other side is left alone as you can see in the picture.
13. Hamelin Bay – Karridale
Hamelin Bay’s unique feature is the friendly sting rays which come to the beach to play with the visitors. These gentle creatures often swim close to the shore, providing visitors with an unforgettable opportunity to interact with them.
Beyond the stingrays, Hamelin Bay offers pristine white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. It’s about a one hour drive from Margaret River. Another good reason to visit the beach is to visit the nearby Jewel Cave.

Scarborough Beach is one the best beaches in Perth Western Australia as well as the busiest. There is always so much going on here like the sunset markets on Thursdays which have live music in the amphitheatre.
There’s a swimming pool next to the beach and there are often events in the area. It’s also one of the best places in Perth for surfing as well as watching the sunset. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the beachfront to grab a bite or drink.
2. Cottesloe Beach
Cottesloe Beach in Perth, Australia is known for its calm waters and safe swimming conditions. Families and beachgoers of all ages love this spot.
The beach has a unique shark net that allows swimmers to go about 100 meters out to sea without worrying about sharks(the shark net is removed during winter).
It also features beautiful white sand, cafes, restaurants, and bars.
3. Coogee Beach
Coogee, one of Perth’s best beaches, is located near Fremantle, just a 30-minute drive from the city centre. It offers soft sand, calm waters, and is perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
